I started this blog, with inspiration to make money at it one day. One of the first sites I came across in searching on how to make money blogging, was Problogger. It really inspired me that there was some possibility of making a few bucks blogging. I work from home, and I am always looking for ways to increase my revenue. I quickly jumped into this blog on wordpress.com, and realize I need to move it to my own host, to run the Google Adsense on it. These two articles ( The Internet’s Biggest Google Whores and High AdSense Earners and their revenues ) have inspired not only myself, but my DH, who is the real techie, to make that move this weekend. I’m sure the articles will inspire others to begin brainstorming, if nothing else!
Pay Day on Bigcrumbs!
I signed up for this new online shopping rewards site back in early November. It sounds pretty cool. It’s similar to Mypoints or Ebates, but it has an awesome referral program instead of the one time bonuses the other sites offer. You can earn cashback on your referrals purchases too. When I first signed up, a lot of people were skeptical, and said to let them know if/when I ever got paid. Well, my first deposit was made into my Paypal account this morning, so it is legit! If you haven’t checked it out yet, you really should. It’s fairly new, so you want to get in early on it, so you can earn off of your referrals and their referrals, up to five generations deep! Check it out here:

Goals for 2007
The husband makes a pretty good salary and I am a WAHM. I sell on Ebay to help make ends meet, and in the last year or so, I have really gotten into coupons and rebates to help make our dollars go farther. Our tasks for this year are these:
- We don’t have a lot of credit card debt, and for that I am thankful, but we do have about a grand that seems to have snuck up on us over the holidays. We need to pay this off asap.
- We want to get an emergency fund established as soon as possible of at least a grand.
- We have one car loan that is due to end in May 2008, and we’d like to get that paid off this year asap and start saving for my car replacement.
- We also live in an area where home prices are high, and we do have a mortage and home equity loan that are in all reality, too high for our income. But we custom built our dream home, and we consider it our biggest investment, and moving is not an option. So in order to stay here comfortably, we need to cut corners everywhere else. Then begin tackling the home equity loan. Or if rates drop again, consider refinancing.
Where to start?
Wow! My own blog….not quite sure where to begin! If you are reading, welcome!
I guess I’ll start with a few of my goals for this blog. Basically, we are beginning a new year, and the husband and I are determined to finally take control of our money, instead of letting it control us. We’ve always lived pretty much paycheck to paycheck, and we are determined to do better. We finally are on the same page, and have established a budget we both agree on. I figure that’s a pretty good start, right? I hope that this blog will help keep us on track. I am hoping that this will also be a place that I can share tips and tools on saving a penny that I come across, and maybe I can learn from you all too.
